We might have migrated to the South Coast but London is where My Bespoke Room was born and we still proudly work on hundreds of London designs every year!

City homes come with their own unique challenges that we love to take on - from maximising space through genius storage solutions to harnessing natural light and privacy in a crowded area. Here we answer some frequently asked questions and share some of our favourite London designs from our portfolio.

Why should you hire a London interior designer?

Granted we're ever so slightly biased but the real question is 'why NOT hire a London interior designer?!' Most city homes aren't blessed with palatial scale floor plans and so your designer can help you maximise every square inch of space, finding nifty storage solutions where you least expect them and ensuring that you choose the right paint colours and furniture styles.

A London interior designer can also save you money in the long run. Yes, really! So many clients come to us asking for help to undo expensive mistakes they made during a renovation. By bringing a designer onboard in the early stages you can avoid the stress and expense by getting it right the first time. A beautifully finished home with that designer magic can also add value to your home when it comes time to sell up and move on.

How we match you with your London interior designer

All of our London interior designers are highly qualified, extremely experienced and are down right lovely to work with. It's of course important that you end up with a beautiful and functional room design but also that you love the experience to get there. That's why once we have your design brief, we hand pick a designer for you and your project. We base it on factors like location, style preferences, lifestyle and budget.

How much does a London interior designer cost?

For many years, hiring an interior designer, particularly in London, has been reserved only for commercial projects and the super wealthy. But not anymore! Our mission has always been to make it possible for anyone and everyone to hire an interior designer to help them get the dream home they deserve within their budget.

Designers have different methods for charging for their services (which you can read about here) and so it can be hard to choose when you're comparing apples with oranges and there are hidden costs you might not have budgeted for. That's why we have flat fee room design packages to make it transparent and easy to understand. You can read about them here.

A handful of our London designs:

1. Creating an urban oasis in central London

This client a tropical paradise in his urban home that reflected his travels. His designer made great use of the incredible architectural features of the room and opted for bright, neutral walls to serve as a backdrop for his art collection.

Indoor plants are wonderful, particularly in an urban environment where you can feel disconnected to nature at times. Not only do they have health benefits, but they also serve a wonderful design purpose in neutral rooms as they add a pop of vibrant colour and texture to a scheme that would otherwise look flat.

2. A light filled Victorian terrace extension

Ah the Victorian terrace! A classic London style home with it's charm and it's challenges. At My Bespoke Room, we love a challenge, particularly ones that come in small, awkward sized packages! A carefully considered layout is key to every open plan space but especially when you don't have a great deal of space to play with.

You can read about the most common mistakes we see in extensions and how you can avoid them here.

Rather than shying away from the fact that this kitchen isn't the largest, the designer made a feature of it with dramatic dark cabinets that celebrate the black architectural details of the window frames and steel beam. White quartz worktops make a beautiful contrast and help to bounce light around the room.

2. Bringing colour and energy to a beige box in West London

So often newbuilds can be ever so slightly soulless and a little bit....beige. Our homes should reflect our personalities and that was the challenge this London homeowner. She saw the appeal of this home when it came on the market due to it's generous room proportions (a rarity in London!) and snapped it up.

Her My Bespoke Room designer, Sarah helped her to transform this living room along with the master bedroom suite, two children's rooms, the kitchen diner and the playroom.

The picture on the left of  this image above was the inspiration and starting point for this whole home redesign. The client completely fell in love with it and so asked Sarah to channel the vibrant colours and energy into her whole home.
